Nimmala Condemns YSRC Attack On Teachers In Vijayawada

Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu condemned the alleged attack on teachers in Vijayawada by a group of persons associated with YSRC. He accused the opposition party of resorting to violence. Ramanaidu participated in an online event on Tuesday in which Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated development works at Palakole in West Godavari district taken up with Hybrid Annuity Model funds. After the programme, Ramanaidu alleged that the YSRC is inciting rowdy gangs including ganja addicts and blade batch criminals to attack teachers, who had secured their jobs through hard work. He alleged that YSRC brought gangs from Prakasam and Guntur joined the criminals in Vijayawada to orchestrate the attacks on teachers. The minister said it is distressing that even a former soldier who later became a teacher is being harassed. He said it is unjust to label as “fakes’’ those who secured teaching positions through the DSC process based on their sporting talent and as per stipulated regulations. Ramanaidu charged former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with spreading misinformation about the Mega DSC to divert public attention from alleged irregularities in Group-1 recruitment when YSRC had been in power. In a statement, Telugu Desam official spokesperson Sunkara Pavani described the alleged attack on teachers as inhuman. She alleged that YSRC leaders who previously assigned teachers to guard liquor shops have not shown any respect for the teaching fraternity. She said candidates who secured jobs through merit and athletes who excelled at the national level were being labelled as “fakes’’ had been subject to mental agony before the physical attack.
