Nidamarru Students Get a Taste of Space Science

The activity helped them understand pressure, propulsion, force and motion through practical learning

VIJAYAWADA: The Science City of Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) organised a one-day Space Skill Workshop at Zilla Parishad High School, Nidamarru, in Mangalagiri mandal of Guntur district, as part of the National Space Day celebrations, exposing government school students to space science and technology and India’s achievements in space exploration.

The workshop, organised in collaboration with the Muskan Educom Foundation, an Isro-authorised organisation, featured interactive sessions and practical activities. Resource persons explained the applications of rockets, satellites, space rovers, telescopes and Virtual Reality technology, and introduced students to their basic working principles and uses in research, communication and exploration.

Students participated in demonstrations involving space science models and technologies, gaining an opportunity to understand concepts through hands-on learning.

The major attraction was a Hydro Rocket launch, with students preparing and launching the rocket themselves under expert guidance. The activity helped them understand pressure, propulsion, force and motion through practical learning.

During the closing ceremony, Science City CEO Venkateswarlu Kesineni interacted with students and discussed their experiences. He stressed the importance of experiential learning in developing scientific temper, creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills, and explained how the workshop activities were connected with classroom learning.

The initiative received a response from students and school authorities, who appreciated the effort to bring experiential space science education to government school students. SCAP said it would continue promoting scientific awareness, innovation and experiential learning across the state.
