New sand policy to be Implemented in AP from Sept. 11
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad announced that Andhra Pradesh's new sand policy will take effect on September 11. Clear guidelines for its implementation will be issued immediately, and district collectors have been instructed to enforce them. During a video conference with district collectors and SPs on Wednesday, Prasad emphasised that only vehicles registered for sand transport should be allowed at sand reaches, and prices must be strictly monitored to prevent overcharging.
District collectors are also directed to appoint special officers for gram sabhas scheduled on August 23 and ensure public awareness on employment, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Mukesh Kumar Meena, principal secretary, mines, noted gaps in sand management and transportation, urging immediate action to strengthen the new policy.
