New Population Policy, Family Card to Every Household Across AP
Naidu said the details of the benefits of welfare schemes should be updated in the family card.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has said a Family Card would be issued to every household in Andhra Pradesh, which would record details of all government schemes availed by families. This card, he said, would be much like an Aadhaar-linked social identity document.
Reviewing the family benefit monitoring system at the secretariat on Thursday, the chief minister said the people’s satisfaction would be important in implementing the welfare schemes. Officials should allot a family score to each family to maintain transparency in the implementation of welfare schemes, he said.
Naidu said the details of the benefits of welfare schemes should be updated in the family card. “The family card should be distributed to all the members of each family for the economic uplift of the poor.”
The CM stressed that field-level information must be gathered to assess the specific needs of each family. “Our system should ensure that welfare benefits reach the right people without delay.”
Naidu stressed the need to give priority for social re-engineering. “The people of some castes are lagging behind in BC, OC and SCs. It is important to identify such people to help them. Priority should be given to interlinking technology to uplift the poor, he said.
Reasserting the importance of the joint family (Ummadi Kutumbam) system, Naidu expressed concern over the division of families to get government welfare schemes. “The government is planning to come up with a population policy and redesign welfare schemes to protect the interests of joint families,” he said.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and several officials were present.
