New Pattadar Passbooks with AP Emblem is New Year Gift to Farmers: CM
Naidu said the repeal of the “ill-conceived” land titling act had removed insecurity among landowners

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday described the distribution of new pattadar passbooks bearing the state emblem as a “New Year gift to farmers”.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to correct past mistakes and restore confidence in land records.
Reviewing the statewide rollout of pattadar passbooks through teleconference, the chief minister recalled that under the previous government, land title documents carried photographs of the then chief minister, a move that had triggered public resentment.
He said the NDA coalition had promised during the elections to rectify errors arising out of the re-survey process and issue fresh, accurate passbooks — a promise that’s now being fulfilled.
The distribution of around 22 lakh new pattadar passbooks has begun in villages where the re-survey has been completed. The programme would continue from January 2 to 9, with MLAs and ministers handing over the documents across the state.
In thousands of villages, the initiative began on a celebratory note, with farmers welcoming the replacement of passbooks carrying the former chief minister and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy's image with those bearing the official state seal.
Naidu held a teleconference with ministers to review the programme, during which revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad briefed him on the progress.
Addressing ministers, the Chief Minister said the government was honouring its election pledge and working to resolve long-pending revenue issues caused by the “faulty decisions” of the previous government. He alleged that even undisputed lands were dragged into controversy in the name of re-survey, causing distress to farmers for whom land is a lifeline.
Naidu said the repeal of the “ill-conceived” land titling act had removed insecurity among landowners.
“Ensuring a dispute-free land system must be our foremost duty. We should work with clear timelines,” he said, urging ministers and district collectors to take personal initiative.
He also claimed that `22 crore of public money had been spent merely on printing photographs on passbooks.
Naidu said the new passbooks were bringing fresh cheer to households and announced that he would personally participate in the distribution programme on one of the days.
