Anantapur: The murder of an intermediate student at Gandikota took an interesting turn on Wednesday after police investigations revealed that the girl had actually been killed by her close relative for having a love affair with a boy from her native village.
Preliminary investigation using CCTV footage pointed to Lokesh as being the suspect. But further investigations revealed that the murder had in fact been committed by a family member, who had been unable to digest the fact that the girl loved another boy.
Kurnool range DIG Koya Praveen who is reviewing the case said they are in the final stages of investigation. He, however, clarified that the girl, doing her intermediate at a private junior college in Proddatur, had not been raped before the murder.
“We will reveal the case details soon,” the DIG told media on Wednesday.
