Nellore Tops In RDSS Works In APSPDCL; 75% Of ₹832-Crore Project Completed

NELLORE: Nellore district has emerged as the top performer in implementation of the centre’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) within the APSPDCL limits, with nearly 75 per cent of the ₹832-crore power infrastructure modernisation project completed in the erstwhile Nellore district.
Superintending engineer P. Sudhakar and construction executive engineer K. Parandhamayya said around 20 special teams are working to complete the remaining works at the earliest.
Sudhakar reviewed the progress of RDSS works at Chandrapadia in Vinjamur section of Atmakur division on Saturday. He directed officials to speed up works while maintaining quality standards.
The project involves development of 6,312 circuit km (CKM) of power lines, including 3,790 CKM of 11-KV lines, 1,172 CKM of LT three-phase lines, and 1,350 CKM of LT single-phase lines.
The works include installation of 3,577 distribution transformers, 197 VCBs (vacuum circuit breakers), 21,280 km of conductors, and about two lakh poles.
A major component of the project is GIS-based digitisation of the power network, enabling officials to digitally map poles, transformers, feeders, and other infrastructure for quicker fault identification and maintenance.
Officials said the upgraded network would improve voltage stability, reduce power interruptions, and strengthen the quality of power supply, particularly in rural areas. Dedicated agricultural feeders and improved three-phase supply are expected to benefit households, businesses, and farming activities.
Officials indicated that steady three-phase power supply would encourage small industries, cold storages, workshops, and processing units in villages, supporting rural investment and employment.
Sudhakar and Parandhamayya attributed the successful work to cooperation within senior officials, field staff, contractors, and villagers. They appealed for continued public support to complete the remaining works quickly.
