Nellore Swelters At 40.2°C As Scorching Heat Grips Andhra Pradesh

Red alert issued for heat wave in West Godavari, Bapatla and Krishna districts

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is experiencing extreme temperatures, with Nellore recording the highest temperature of 40.2°C, followed by Gannavaram at 39.6°C on Wednesday. Narsapur recorded at 39.4°C, Jangamaheswarpuram at 39.3°C, Ongole at 38.7°C, Kavali at 38.6°C, Machilipatnam at 38.4°C, Tirupathi at 37.7°C, Visakhapatnam at 34.1°C and 38.4°C was recorded at Amaravati.

As per the latest bulletin from the IMD, lower tropospheric southwesterly and westerly winds are dominating over AP and Yanam. The weatherman has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in the Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam districts and a red alert for heat waves in the West Godavari, Bapatla, and Krishna districts.
The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall beginning July 18. For the upcoming five days, heavy rainfall is anticipated in isolated areas of NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected to continue, with strong winds blowing at speeds of 40-50 km/h.
