Nellore: Family of 3 Held for Train Thefts, Rs 13.65 Lakh Jewellery Recovered
Police recovered 104.248 grams of gold jewellery worth about Rs.13.40 lakh and 180 grams of silver articles valued at Rs.25,000 from the accused. The valuables were allegedly stolen in eight separate offences.

Nellore: The Government Railway Police (GRP) have arrested three members of the same family for their alleged involvement in a series of thefts and chain-snatching incidents on trains in Gudur, Nellore and Kavali.
Police recovered 104.248 grams of gold jewellery worth about Rs.13.40 lakh and 180 grams of silver articles valued at Rs.25,000 from the accused. The valuables were allegedly stolen in eight separate offences.
According to the GRP, the cases include three bag-lifting incidents and five chain-snatching cases registered under the limits of Gudur, Nellore and Kavali railway police stations.
The accused were identified as Anil Kumar, Suresh and Kalesha. Police said two of them are adults while the third is a minor, and all three belong to the same family.
Investigators said railway police teams analysed available information and gathered specific inputs about the suspects during the investigation.
Acting on the information, police identified the accused during patrolling in the Boguladibba area of Gudur on August 24. The Gudur and Nellore railway police subsequently carried out a coordinated operation and arrested the three offenders. Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in any other similar offences on trains.
