Nellore Leads State In National Lok Adalat, Settles Over 48,000 Cases
Banks, insurance companies and BSNL actively participated, facilitating amicable settlements and speedy resolution of disputes: Reports

NELLORE: Nellore district topped Andhra Pradesh in the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday, with a total of 48,317 cases settled through 26 benches across the district.
The Lok Adalat was conducted at the District Court complex and various court centres, with 12 benches in Nellore, three in Kavali, two each in Gudur and Atmakur, and one bench each in Venkatagiri, Sullurpeta, Kota, Naidupeta and Udayagiri.
Of the total cases disposed of, 32,657 were criminal cases, 147 civil cases and 15,513 cases related to municipal offices and free litigation, officials said.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp under the leadership of District Principal Judge G. Srinivas, in the presence of District Legal Services Authority secretary and senior civil judge K. Vani.
District Superintendent of Police Dr Ajit Vejendla, joint collector M. Venkateswarlu, IAS, commissioner Y. Nandan, Bar Council member Venati Chandrasekhar Reddy and other officials attended the event.

Officials said Nellore’s top ranking reflected coordinated efforts by the district judiciary to provide swift, affordable and people-friendly justice, while significantly reducing case pendency in courts.
