NELLORE: The annual Yeti Panduga, organised as part of the Sankranti celebrations, will be held this year on a grand scale, highlighting the rich culture and traditions of all Telugu districts, officials said.

As per the directions of municipal administration minister P. Narayana, the festival is scheduled for January 17.

In preparation, the riverfront area near Tikkana Park on the banks of the Penna River was inspected on Saturday by district officials.

During the inspection, officials reviewed arrangements to ensure that the festival is conducted in an attractive and festive manner.

Special emphasis has been laid on showcasing distinct Telugu traditions, folk art forms, traditional games, music and cultural performances from across Andhra Pradesh to give visitors a unique cultural experience.

To reflect regional diversity, themed stages will be set up under the supervision of the tourism department, while the endowments department will install replicas of famous temples.

Arrangements are also being made for rangoli displays and handicraft stalls by women’s self-help groups, exclusive women-run stalls, and a dedicated fun and gaming zone for families and children.

Cultural programmes will be organised by the Simhapuri Movie Arts Association, with necessary infrastructure support from the Municipal Corporation.

Officials, including RDO Anusha, municipal commissioner Nandan, and tahsildar Shafi Malik, participated in the inspection and coordination meetings.

In the final review, district collector Himanshu Shukla called upon all departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the Yeti Panduga is conducted in a pleasant, traditional and memorable manner for the people of Nellore.
