Nellore: Education Minister Nara Lokesh Inaugurates Two Modernized Government Schools
The two schools have been transformed with modern classrooms, laboratories, digital learning facilities and sports infrastructure at a combined investment of over ₹21.7 crore through CSR and philanthropic support.
Nellore: Education minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday inaugurated the newly renovated RSR municipal high school at Stonehousepet and the DSR (Devirreddy Sarada) government high school at Moolapet.
This marks a major upgrade of government-school infrastructure in Nellore city.
The two schools have been transformed with modern classrooms, laboratories, digital learning facilities and sports infrastructure at a combined investment of over ` 21.7 crore through CSR and philanthropic support.
The RSR municipal high school was modernised with `8.3 crore in CSR funds from the VPR Foundation, with the renovated campus featuring 43 classrooms, LED screens, modern furniture and computer, robotics, astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology laboratories.
Art, music, dance and language rooms, a library and modern sanitation facilities have also been provided.
The school has also been equipped with a one-acre playground, football, volleyball and badminton facilities, a kids’ play area, sensory park and outdoor gym. A 21,000-sq-ft synthetic court has been developed for sports activities.
At Moolapet, the DSR GHS was rebuilt with `13.41 crore in CSR/philanthropic support from the Devirreddy Sarada Charitable Trust.
The two-storeyed campus has 24 classrooms, 15 LED screens, 300 benches and specialised laboratories for computer science, robotics, astronomy and the sciences, besides art, music, language rooms and a library.
The school also boasts of having basketball, pickleball, volleyball, kabaddi and kho-kho courts, cricket practice nets, an outdoor gym, sensory park, kids’ play area and open musical instruments.
After inaugurating the schools, Lokesh inspected the facilities and interacted with students. He also reviewed their academic performance with school heads and officials, focusing on learning outcomes, attendance, enrolment and Class X results.
At RSR, he sought improvement in the Class X pass percentage, which stood at 60.19 per cent last year, and called for efforts to boost enrolment and attendance.
At DSR, he welcomed the increase in enrolment but expressed concern over low attendance and stressed the need for better learning outcomes and quality mid-day meals.
The two projects are part of an initiative to modernise 15 government schools in Nellore city, with the objective of providing students access to facilities comparable to those available in private and corporate schools.
Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, minister P. Narayana, Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao, MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar, Somireddy Chandramohan and Inturi Nageswara, among others, attended the programmes.
