Nellore: Nellore Municipal commissioner Y.O. Nandan has warned of strict action under the Municipal Act against vehicle owners transporting sand and other construction materials without complying with prescribed safety norms.
During an inspection on Podalakur Road on Saturday morning, the commissioner found sand spilled across the road by trucks and other vehicles carrying uncovered loads in violation of regulations. He directed municipal staff to clear the accumulated sand immediately.
Nandan instructed owners of lorries, tractors, bullock carts and other vehicles transporting sand, gravel and construction materials to ensure that all loads are properly covered and comply with civic safety standards. He warned that violators would face stringent action.
The commissioner also directed town planning officials and ward planning secretaries to ensure that construction materials and demolition debris are not dumped on public roads, and to maintain continuous monitoring.
