Ram Mohan Naidu says long-pending projects will boost North Andhra economy
Visakhapatnam: Union civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Friday said the early completion and inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram reflected the coalition government's commitment to fast-tracking infrastructure development.
He said the airport was more than an infrastructure project and represented the pride and future of North Andhra. He also expressed confidence that other long-pending projects, including Mulapeta Port and the Rs 641-crore Neradi Barrage Project, would soon deliver economic and irrigation benefits to Srikakulam district.
Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating and laying foundation stones for development works worth around Rs 11 crore in Gara mandal and Srikakulam city, Ram Mohan Naidu said Andhra Pradesh had returned to the path of development under the NDA coalition government after years of neglect.
He inaugurated the Rs 2.55-crore Kalingapatnam Lift Irrigation Scheme and several civic infrastructure projects, including roads, central lighting, an electricity substation, an irrigation department office and drainage works.
The Union minister said the coalition government was fulfilling its commitments through the implementation of the Super Six welfare schemes and completing projects that had remained pending under the previous regime.
He said investments worth Rs 11 lakh crore attracted to the state would create lakhs of employment opportunities and reaffirmed the government's commitment to farmers' welfare and regional development.
State agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said the government had fulfilled the majority of its welfare promises and highlighted measures including enhanced pensions, assistance to farmers and fishermen, free bus travel for women and free LPG cylinders.
