NCVET Recognises AP Technical Board For Skills Curricula

This will attract entrepreneurs to set up their industries in Andhra Pradesh, as skilled workers will be readily available in the state

VIJAYAWADA: National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has recognised AP State Board of Technical Education & Training (SBTET as an Awarding Body, which will strengthen job opportunities for young people in Andhra Pradesh.

AP is the first technical education authority in South India to get this prestigious recognition. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between SBTET and NCVET in the presence of NCVET chairman Rajit Punhani and AP Technical Education director Ganesh Kumar.

Ganesh Kumar said such recognition authorises SBTET to simultaneously design skill development curricula and conduct competency assessments, thereby expanding its capacity to enhance employment outcomes for technical and vocational students in Andhra Pradesh.

The Technical Education director said, “The recognition supports government programmes like Skill India by focusing on practical learning alongside technical studies. This means students get multiple options to pursue regular college education or choose skill-based training that directly leads to employment. Students can now take courses that teach them exactly what companies need. Every certificate from these programmes will have NCVET's stamp of approval. This is important because it means employers anywhere in India, and even in other countries, will know the certificate represents real skills. It is like having a quality guarantee that makes it easier to get hired and potentially earn better salaries.”

Ganesh Kumar said, in other words, it means students don't have to choose between getting a job quickly or continuing their education. They can do both over time. The NCVET recognition thus opens doors for thousands of young people in AP to get better career opportunities. In addition, it will help Andhra Pradesh attract more industries because companies will know that they find workers who are already skilled to work in their factories.
