KAKINADA: The famous Narsapuram ‘Crochet Lace Products’ secured the ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) award from the Central Government. The lace products are manufactured in Narsapur in the West Godavari district. Collector Chadalawada Nagarani received the ODOP award for Narsapuram lace products from the union minister for commercial taxes and industries Piyush Goel at New Delhi on Monday in a function of the ODOP awards ceremony. On November 25 2024, the lace products got the geographical indication (GI) tag from the Union textile ministry.
Nagarani said that she was very happy that Narsapur lace weavers got GI recognition last year and now they are receiving the award under ODOP, and with these recognitions, thousands of weavers and artisans will be able to be encouraged.
She said that they are already working towards the promotion of special products, market linkage, and branding promotion of special products, market linkage, and branding promotion.
She said that handlooms and handicrafts in the textile industry are at the top of the list of geographical indication registered products in the country, and the handlooms and handicraft products tagged with GI in the country are particularly impressive.
She said that as a result of the efforts of the manufacturers, which have made the lace products one of the GI-recognised products in the state, in addition to international recognition, they are able to receive another award under ODOP now. She greeted the lace manufacturers of Narsapuram.
