Naidu Warns Against Criminal Acts Through Politics

CM says law and order will be enforced firmly, without fear or favour

Tirupati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday warned against criminal acts being carried out under the cover of politics.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed district police office building in Tirupati, the chief minister warned against some political activists repeatedly creating public nuisance. He said such behaviour was unacceptable and would invite strict action.

Rowdyism, he said, would be dealt with firmly and warned that groups operating under the guise of political parties would not be spared if they got involved in land settlements, factional activities or acts of vandalism.

The Chief Minister said law and order would be maintained without fear or favour.

Naidu referred to a recent social media incident in which some party activists sacrificed a goat in public and splashed its blood on a poster of their leader. This, he said, is deplorable. Such conduct had “no place in civilized politics.”

He also warned against abusive social media posts that malign political opponents.

The Chief Minister commended the district police for their efforts against red sanders smuggling and ganja trafficking. He stressed the need for constant vigil in a major pilgrim centre like Tirupati. The police must remain alert to elements attempting to disturb peace and public order in the city.

Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad, DGP Harish Gupta and others were present.
