Naidu called for reforms in education system

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday emphasised that teachers will have to play a crucial role in preparing students for future challenges arising from rapid technological changes.
“Artificial intelligence (AI) could provide information. But development can only be led by the human element mainly comprising students,” the CM underlined at the Teachers’ Day celebrations organised by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Naidu called for reforms in education system to keep pace with the evolving technologies. He wanted restructuring of courses from school to higher education in line with the emerging industrial requirements. “Students should be exposed to fields, such as AI, quantum technology, robotics, and data analytics right from an early stage,” he emphasised.
The Chief Minister maintained that even though AI is entering various sectors, it cannot replace teachers. He wanted education to be delivered with values, culture, patriotism, and love for nature. He asked teachers to nurture among students leadership qualities, innovation, creativity, and ability to overcome challenges.
Naidu asserted that education should not remain confined to textbooks and classrooms. Students should be provided opportunities for experiential learning. He requested teachers to develop their schools into distinctive brands, where students of Class VII acquire proficiency in AI.
Further, the CM stressed on the need to link education with sports, nature, and healthy practices. Schools should observe every Saturday as “No Bag Day” and undertake activities such as tree plantation, spirituality, yoga, and meditation for students.
Naidu said his government is working towards achieving 100 per cent literacy in Andhra Pradesh by 2027. He pointed out that technologies, such as Clicker and AI Tutor are being used to transform classroom teaching.Referring to teacher recruitment, the Chief Minister said the coalition government’s first signature after assuming office had been to appoint teachers through the Mega DSC. Despite more than 350 petitions filed by YSRC leaders to obstruct the recruitment, state government overcame all hurdles and provided jobs to teachers, he stated.Naidu declared that teachers alone could help India regain its position as “Vishwaguru” by shaping students into future leaders.
