Naidu to visit state hospitals, interact with patients

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will soon visit government hospitals across the state to interact with patients and assess the quality of healthcare services being provided.
Health special chief secretary M.T. Krishna Babu revealed this during a video conference with medical superintendents and administrators from 256 government hospitals on Wednesday. He stated that the Chief Minister had reviewed the findings of the IVRS survey with top health officials and emphasised the need to improve healthcare services and sanitation standards in hospitals.
The health official noted that such surveys would become a regular practice, urging hospital administrators to enhance sanitation in preparation for future assessments. He also warned that strict action would be taken against those failing to maintain proper hygiene standards.
Explaining the IVRS survey methodology, Krishna Babu said the first phase was conducted on January 27, followed by the second on February 7, covering six key areas. Public feedback was largely positive regarding the availability of doctors and staff, their behaviour, the supply of medicines, and corruption levels. He noted that corruption, which was recorded at 39% in the first survey, had decreased to 31% in the second. However, sanitation remained a major concern, with 33% of respondents rating it poorly in the first survey and 59% expressing the same dissatisfaction in the second survey.
