Naidu to Inaugurate Polavaram Left Main Canal in August: Nimmala
The minister reviewed the progress of the Polavaram Left Main Canal and Veligonda project virtually with senior officials and representatives of executing agencies.
Vijayawada:Minister for water resources Nimmala Ramanaidu on Friday said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would inaugurate the Polavaram Left Main Canal in August.
The minister reviewed the progress of the Polavaram Left Main Canal and Veligonda project virtually with senior officials and representatives of executing agencies.
During the review, he directed officials to expedite construction works on the Polavaram Left Main Canal, particularly bridges at National Highway crossings, to ensure completion of the project schedule.
He said arrangements should be made to ensure Godavari water reaches Anakapalli through the Left Main Canal by the time of the inauguration. The minister warned of strict action in case of delays in execution.
Referring to the Veligonda project, Ramanaidu said lining works covering 5.2 km in Tunnel-2 had been completed during the past 20 months.
He directed officials to complete the remaining benching works by June 10.
The minister also instructed officials to prepare a plan for removal of the Tunnel Boring Machine stuck inside Tunnel-2 within two months.
