Naidu, Shivraj Singh Chouhan To Unveil Vajpayee Statue In Amaravati

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will jointly unveil a bronze statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Smriti Vanam in Amaravati on December 25, marking Vajpayee’s birth centenary. Several Union and State Ministers are expected to attend the event.
Announcing this at a media conference here on Wednesday, BJP Andhra Pradesh president P. V. N. Madhav said the Atal–Modi Good Governance Yatra had received an overwhelming response across the State, with people recalling Vajpayee’s ideals and contributions.
Madhav said the Chief Minister immediately welcomed the yatra and extended full support from both the coalition and the government. Leaders of alliance parties actively participated in the programmes, reflecting coordinated efforts, he added.
Recalling the close association between Vajpayee and Naidu, Madhav said the former Prime Minister had supported key infrastructure projects such as Cyberabad and the Shamshabad airport, and laid the foundation for national highways, rural roads, IT and telecom expansion.
The yatra from Dharmavaram to Amaravati witnessed wide public participation across Rayalaseema, North Andhra and Coastal regions, he said.
Madhav said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was carrying forward Vajpayee’s vision through effective governance, with the goal of achieving a developed India and Andhra Pradesh by 2047. He appealed to people to attend the statue unveiling in large numbers.
Separately, Guntur district collector A. Thameem Ansariya and superintendent of police Vakul Jindal reviewed arrangements at Venkatapalem village in Thulluru mandal and directed officials to ensure all logistical and civic arrangements are completed ahead of the programme.
