Naidu Sets 7-Month Deadline to Distribute 68.64 Lakh Passbooks
CM rejects call for Lokesh's resignation over DSC intakes
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to complete the land resurvey in 9,365 villages and issue 68.64 lakh high-security pattadar passbooks to farmers within the next seven months.
Addressing a gathering at Kalidindi village in Eluru district during the ‘Mee-Bhoomi Mee Hakku’ programme, Naidu said 32.33 lakh pattadar passbooks had already been distributed in 7,451 villages during the past seven months.
He entrusted the task of issuing the remaining passbooks to revenue minister Anagani Satya Prasad, Chief Secretary Sai Prasad and others. Naidu said the new passbooks would incorporate security features including blockchain technology and QR codes to make them tamper-proof and provide details of the location of the land.
“Having a pattadar passbook for the land in the ownership gives self-respect to the farmers or land owners. With the passbook at hand, the land can be used to sell or mortgage to get money to meet the family needs like marriage. After doing eKYC, the pattadar passbook will be given after holding the gram sabha at no cost to the farmers.”
He said rising land prices in some parts of the state had resulted in disputes among family members, including between brothers and between parents and children, and stressed the need to reduce land litigation.
Naidu said the government had resolved land issues covering 41,000 acres, benefiting 1.27 lakh farmers, industries and others. Another 1.36 lakh acres had been made freehold, while digitisation of old land records, including 1B, Adangal, DKT and Inam records, was under way. Link documents relating to lands would be made available online and nine lakh people had been provided the facility of auto-mutation, he said.
On revenue records, Naidu alleged that records had been destroyed during the YSRC term between 2019 and 2024 and that some lands had been placed under Section 22A of the registration act. The government would resolve such issues.
The CM said that while he promoted information technology earlier, he was now focusing on artificial intelligence to provide better governmental and other services to the people.
Referring to potholes in the erstwhile east and west Godavari and Krishna districts, Naidu attributed the problem to the nature of the soil and said the government would lay cement-concrete roads.
On the impact of the US-Iran conflict on aquaculture exports, the CM said the government was providing power to aqua farmers at
Rs 1.50 per unit despite an additional burden of Rs 1,150 crore on the state exchequer. Another 12,500 farmers in non-aqua zones had been brought under the subsidised power scheme, he said.
Naidu also criticised the YSRC and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over their protests and allegations against the government. Referring to the YSRC's proposed statewide protest over alleged irregularities in DSC-2025 teacher recruitment, he said nearly 15,000 teacher posts had been filled and rejected the demand for resignation of education minister Lokesh.
