Naidu Seeks Central Teams to Assess Arnab Cyclone Damage
In his letter, Naidu said the cyclone had damaged crops, houses, roads and electricity poles, with the coastal districts bearing the brunt of its impact

Hyderabad: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking the early deployment of central teams to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh and requesting continued central assistance for relief and restoration operations.
In his letter, Naidu said the cyclone had damaged crops, houses, roads and electricity poles, with the coastal districts bearing the brunt of its impact. Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anakapalli and Krishna districts were among the worst affected.
The Chief Minister said the state government had deployed 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 11 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams across 14 districts to carry out rescue and relief operations. More than 28,000 people had been shifted to rehabilitation centres in cyclone-hit areas.
He said the government’s advance preparations had helped prevent loss of life so far. Preliminary assessments indicated that around 180 houses had been damaged, while more than 220 trees had fallen across roads, disrupting transport and movement in several areas.
Several roads in coastal regions had suffered damage, and power supply had been disrupted in many places. The government had taken up electricity restoration works on a war footing, Naidu said.
Heavy rainfall had also caused extensive damage to agriculture. According to preliminary estimates cited in the letter, paddy crops spread over approximately 70,900 hectares had been inundated. Horticultural crops had suffered damage across 10,450 hectares, based on the information available so far.
