Naidu Seeks Bill In Parliament Legally Backing Amaravati

AP Chief Minister made the appeal during his meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asked the Central government to pass a bill in the Parliament granting statutory status for Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh.

The AP Chief Minister made the appeal during his meeting with Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Naidu underlined that providing legal sanctity to Amaravati through parliamentary approval will boost investor confidence and place the state on a firmer growth trajectory. He said it would also send a strong signal of stability to the future of Andhra Pradesh.
The Chief Minister raised concerns over the recently introduced (Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) VB G RAM G scheme, which has replaced certain components of the MGNREGA. He maintained that revising the Centre-State funding ratio to 60:40 will place a heavy financial burden on Andhra Pradesh, which is already under a fiscal stress.
Naidu requested alternative financial support to mitigate the adverse impact on AP with regard to sharing of expenditure incurred on VB-G RAM G.
Acknowledging the centre’s support in helping Andhra Pradesh recover from its financial difficulties, the CM appealed for continued cooperation between the centre and AP to put the state back on a sustainable growth path.
The two leaders held detailed discussions on implementation of various development and welfare programmes in the state, as well as the recent political and economic developments.
