Naidu Reviews Arrangements For Bhogapuram Airport Inauguration

Reviewing the preparations with senior officials, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister should be accorded a traditional welcome showcasing the culture of north Andhra.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday directed officials to make elaborate arrangements for the proposed inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1.

Reviewing the preparations with senior officials, the Chief Minister said the Prime Minister should be accorded a traditional welcome showcasing the culture of north Andhra. He asked officials to organise performances of tribal and folk dances, including Dhimsa, Savara and Kommu Koya, during the event.

Naidu said the Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the passenger terminal building, the GMR Skill Development Centre, the Aviation Hub University and the GMR-MANSAS Aviation, Aerospace and Defence EduCity.

Describing the airport as a major infrastructure project for north Andhra, he said it would strengthen global connectivity, emerge as a logistics hub and contribute to the state's economic development.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to arrange a complimentary one-time flight for farmers and landowners who had parted with land for the airport project as a gesture of appreciation.

He instructed officials to organise a public meeting to mark the inauguration and ensure adequate arrangements for breakfast, lunch and drinking water for attendees. He also called for an extensive publicity campaign on the airport inauguration across north Andhra till July 31.
