Naidu Calls Amaravati Bill a Defining Moment, Thanks Modi And Shah
The Chief Minister thanked all political parties and Members of Parliament for supporting the resolution, rising above differences

VIJAYAWADA: Hailing the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 as a “historic and defining moment”, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah for their support in securing Amaravati’s status as the state’s sole capital.
In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the Bill reflects the collective will of the people of Andhra Pradesh and gives a strong national endorsement to Amaravati as the capital. Using the hashtag #HistoricAmaravati, he said the development firmly establishes Amaravati as the “sole Praja Rajadhani” of the state.
Naidu lauded the Prime Minister’s “unwavering support and steadfast commitment” to Amaravati, recalling his role from laying the foundation stone in 2015 to reaffirming the capital’s vision in 2025. He also credited Amit Shah and the Union government for steering the legislation.
The Chief Minister thanked all political parties and Members of Parliament for supporting the resolution, rising above differences.
Reflecting on the post-bifurcation challenges, he said the state had struggled without a capital and paid tributes to Amaravati farmers for their “sacrifice, trust and resilience”.
Describing the development as a turning point, Naidu said it brings stability and ushers in a new era of confidence and progress. He asserted that Amaravati’s status as capital is now “beyond doubt, beyond debate, and beyond change”.
Calling Amaravati “unstoppable”, he said it would emerge as the heart of Andhra Pradesh and a source of national pride.
