Naidu Asks Party Leaders To Ensure Alliance’s Win In Local Body Polls

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has called upon the party leaders and cadre to work hand-in-hand with the alliance leaders/cadre and ensure victory for the TDP-JS-BJP combine in the upcoming local body polls.

The call was made during the inaugural session of the two-day TDP Leadership Conclave being held at the party headquarters at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Monday.

The chief minister said, “Do not take local body polls in a casual manner. All members of the alliance should be united in their efforts to win the polls. There should be no discord among the leaders. We need to identify efficient women leaders to contest the local body polls vis-à-vis seats reserved for them.”

He said, ”We have addressed several issues after our three-party alliance assumed power. The people are sympathetic towards our government and this sentiment would reflect in the local body polls. Now, I am focusing more on how to secure victory in the polls. Apart from governance, I am also spending a considerable time for the party. I am confident that we will get better results in the general elections in 2029.”

Naidu said that the government was implementing all the major projects on a priority basis, taking up several developmental works and bringing huge investments by fixing targets. “We are generating employment.”

He advised the party MLAs to fix targets and achieve them with good work in their constituencies. They, he said, must identify 25 works in every assembly segment and complete them on a priority basis. The people would appreciate that.

Naidu said the party would organise similar conclaves once in every three months and asked the MLAs who adopted the best practices to present them in such meetings.

The CM recalled the practice he adopted while as MLA for the first time to resolve the people’s issues and said, “We used to pursue matters with ministers and officials from morning to evening in order to get issues of the people resolved. We also used to wait for hours after taking appointments to meet them. We also had good coordination with the officials in order to address the problems of the employees.”

He said, “Self-motivation is our driving force to continuously work until the problem we took up got redressed. We used to be in touch with the people, developed leadership skills and trained good leaders and repeatedly won polls.”

Naidu advised the party leaders to to keep a close watch on functioning of the young generation and work accordingly. “If we are able to perform as effectively as the present generation, we will reap success in politics. Every leader should know the people are watching them.”

He said the work style changes every 10 years. “Gadde Rammohan was getting elected without spending money", and so was the case with senior leaders like Gorantla Butchaiah Choudhary and Varadarajulu who worked with commitment and stayed close to the people all the time.

The CM advised the party leaders not to ignore the party cadre and win the confidence of the people. Do not work solo as it would yield no result, he said, and opined that the public representatives who could convince and work with the party cadre would get huge support.

Naidu made it clear to the leaders that money alone would not help anyone win the polls. “The need for politicians is to develop an emotional connection with the party cadre and the people.” He cited the style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “who is working only with the target to win; and in case of any lapses, he will get them rectified immediately.”

The TD chief called upon the party leaders to develop leadership skills in such a way that the people would elect them and the party cadre would work for them.
