Nadendla Rules Out Deadline for Issue of New Ration Cards

Issue of fresh ration cards and making changes in them is a continuous process, says the Civil Supplies minister.

Vijayawada: Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has ruled out any deadline for filing applications for issue of fresh ration cards or making any changes in the existing ration cards.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he went on to advise all eligible persons to apply for fresh cards.

The minister maintained that the issue of fresh ration cards and making changes in them is a continuous process. Likewise, fresh cards will be issued as per norms to all the eligible persons.

He ruled out any delay in the issue of new rice cards. He reiterated that within 21 days from the date of submission of application, ration cards will continue to be issued free of cost.

Nadendla disclosed that from May 7 onwards, they have been making changes in the rice cards because the central government has made KYC mandatory. The state government is ensuring that every card it issues complies with the latest KYC norms.

Replying to a question, he said KYC is yet to be done of 22,59,498 persons who have applied for the ration cards. KYC of 4,24,59,028 persons has been completed. These people will be issued rice cards free of cost in June.

The minister insisted that a marriage certificate is not required for making changes in the ration card. He maintained that a photograph of the marriage will be sufficient for making changes in the rice card.

In this regard, he directed the secretariat staff to accept applications and make the necessary changes after verification of the documents. Likewise, they must also accept and clear applications for deletion of names after verifying the documentary proof.
