Nadendla Manohar Seeks Bankers’ Support in Helping Farmers

Nadendla Manohar highlights tech-based paddy procurement, AI rollout for transparency

Vijayawada: Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar has called upon bankers to support development programmes that benefit farmers, as this would ensure the timely distribution of rations to people.

Speaking at a review meeting with bankers in Vijayawada on Thursday, he pointed out that many citizens eagerly await their monthly ration that the government provides. He wanted the banking sector to support the farmers, which, in turn, will help the government in procuring the essentials from farmers and deliver them to the people effectively.

The minister pointed out that as part of its reforms, the government has introduced a new technology-based procurement system that allows farmers to sell paddy via WhatsApp. Over 17,000 farmers have utilised this platform till date.

He pointed out that during the Kharif season alone, the coalition government has procured 3.8 million metric tonnes of paddy from six lakh farmers. He pointed out that payments have been credited to the farmers’ bank accounts within 24 hours, leading to widespread satisfaction.

Manohar underlined that the state government is against the mafia within the ration distribution system. He announced the rollout of new ration cards using advanced technology and the installation of AI-powered cameras at all warehouses across the state to enhance transparency.
