Mystery Over TG IRS Officer Losing ₹9.45 Lakh Valuables Kept In Car

Vijayawada:In a mysterious case, an IRS officer Shanti Raja from Telangana lost his bag containing cash and valuables, including gold ornaments and three mobile phones, worth ₹9.45 lakh, from his car parked in Tenali town of Bapatla district in AP on Thursday night.

According to Tenali Three Town police, the officer arrived in Tenali to attend a marriage. He engaged a private driver on a temporary basis for travelling to Guntur.

When they arrived in Tenali, Shanti Raja left the car near the bridge, telling the driver to keep the bag safely as some valuables are in it.

However, the driver went to answer nature’s call. When he came back to the car, he noticed the side window pane of the car broken and the bag missing.

Police said as per the complaint, the bag stolen contained ₹5 lakh cash, gold ornaments, including two chains and three rings, and three mobile phones, apart from some ID cards.

Tenali Three Town police have booked a case. The police found that there had been no lighting facilities near the bridge where the car had been parked. No CCTV cameras have been found in the vicinity.

Police suspect someone knew about the bag in the car and lifted it in the absence of the driver. Investigations are on.
