My Father Will Emerge Like a Polished Pearl: Kakani Poojitha
Speaks out on arrest of former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy

Nellore: In an emotional address to the media at the YSRC office in Nellore on Thursday, former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy’s daughter, Poojitha Reddy, strongly condemned what she described as the unjust and politically motivated arrest of her father.
Speaking for the first time since Kakani’s arrest, Poojitha said, “My father has been wrongfully arrested. He will come out like a polished pearl. From today, I will be accessible to the people, just as my father always was.”
Describing her father’s political journey, she said, “People know my father’s integrity and character. As a former minister and Zilla Parishad chairman, he served the public with honesty. He never thought beyond development and welfare. Even during the Covid-19 crisis, he worked tirelessly round the clock for the people.”
She highlighted Govardhan Reddy’s grassroots background, stating that his rise from the bottom ranks gave him a deep understanding of the struggles of ordinary people. “He is someone who never shied away from public service. Anyone could meet him. That’s the kind of accessible leader he has always been.”
Calling the arrest an act of political vendetta, Poojitha said, “False cases are being used to harass my father. It’s unjust. Many people from our constituency have already called us, expressing concern and saying they feared this would happen. My father is no stranger to cases. He has always faced police inquiries and the legal system bravely.”
On the ongoing legal process, she clarified, “The bail petition is currently pending in court. We withdrew our Supreme Court plea due to technical reasons, not because the petition was dismissed. We’re waiting for the court’s verdict.”
Expressing faith in justice, she said, “Time may not be in our favour today, but our day will come. No matter how tough things get, our leaders, party workers and the people are standing with us.”
She extended heartfelt thanks to the people of the district, particularly the supporters in Sarvepalli constituency and the YSRC cadre, saying, “Despite all these challenges, everyone has stayed by our side. I will be constantly available for Sarvepalli YSRC workers and will fight for them.”
Ending on a note of defiance and hope, Poojitha concluded, “Illegal cases will not stand forever. Truth and justice will prevail.”
