Municipal Officials Asked To Create Public Awareness On Unauthorized Layouts
Unauthorised constructions must be identified and stopped at the initial stages: Commissioner
NELLORE: Nellore Municipal Corporation commissioner Y.O. Nandan has instructed town planning officials and ward secretariat planning secretaries to identify unauthorised layouts and create public awareness about them through various media.
He held a review meeting on Tuesday at the Command Control Centre with officials from the urban planning department and ward secretariats.
During the meeting, the commissioner emphasised the need to educate landowners about the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) and speed up its implementation. He directed officials to meet the targets set for the scheme and complete pending applications as soon as possible. He also asked for a review of pending LRS patterns and applications as per the instructions of the director of town & country planning.
The commissioner stressed that unauthorised constructions must be identified and stopped at the initial stages. He also instructed officials to ensure that construction materials and debris from demolished buildings do not block roads or cause inconvenience to the public.
If any building materials are found on public roads, notices must be issued, and penalties should be collected, he said.
City planner Himabindu, along with other officials, planning secretaries from ward secretariats, and staff, participated in the meeting.
