Mumbai’s Film Industry Seeks Land In Amaravati

Narayana said the state government had so far allotted 1,269 acres of land to 114 institutions in Amaravati and asserted that capital construction works were progressing without any interruption.

VIJAYAWADA: Urban development minister P. Narayana on Friday revealed that several personalities from Mumbai’s film industry, including actor Sanjay Dutt, had expressed their interest in obtaining land for their projects in Amaravati.

The government, he said, is currently scrutinising their detailed project reports, balance sheets and financial statements in this connection.

Narayana said the state government had so far allotted 1,269 acres of land to 114 institutions in Amaravati and asserted that capital construction works were progressing without any interruption.

Speaking to the media at the secretariat after an online meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on Amaravati land allotments, the minister said the allotted entities included 70 government and 44 private institutions.

He said the allocations covered 16 banks, eight bank employee housing projects, 22 educational institutions, 13 state government organisations, 17 central government institutions, seven medical institutions, 14 hotels, two sports organisations and five other entities.

Construction activity was under way in 20 institutions while work had been completed in nine. Another 18 institutions were in the payment stage, 25 were at the agreement stage and 38 were finalising designs.

The minister said three organisations — GRT Hotels, Splendor and IRCTC — had withdrawn their allotments for various reasons. IRCTC cancelled its allotment following a policy decision not to undertake new projects.

Narayana said 16 more institutions had applied for land allotments and the government would process them through Expression of Interest (EOI) or Request for Proposal (RFP) procedures.

He said the sub-committee approved an alternative site for G.V. Estates Hotels and permitted a brand change for Hyderabad Educational Academy. Changes were also approved in the location and extent of land allotted earlier to APHRDI, AP Public Libraries, Telugu Cultural Centre and the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau.

The minister clarified that there was no diesel shortage affecting the Amaravati works, as contractors had made adequate arrangements.
