MUF Seeks ₹1 Lakh Each For All Hajis From AP

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the state government provides financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to pilgrims departing for Haj from the Gannavaram embarkation point, treating them as official pilgrims from AP.

VIJAYAWADA: Muslim United Front (MUF) president Md. Kaleem sought from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to ₹1 grant to all devout leaving for Haj from Andhra Pradesh, irrespective of their embarkation point.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said the state government provides financial assistance of ₹1 lakh to pilgrims departing for Haj from the Gannavaram embarkation point, treating them as official pilgrims from AP.

Kaleem pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Haj Committee has found 2,314 of the 2,649 applications received for Haj as qualified for performing the pilgrimage. He asked the state government to immediately announce financial aid for all Haj pilgrims from the state, regardless of their departure point, for the 2026 Haj season.

Further, the MUF president said the AP government is providing honorariums only to Imams and Muezzins of mosques registered between 2018 and 2022. However, an additional 1,600 mosques have been registered in the past three years. But their staff have not yet received any honorariums.

He appealed to the AP CM to issue immediate orders including all mosques registered within Andhra Pradesh as being eligible under the honorarium scheme.
