MSMEs Welcome AP’s Proposed Policy of ‘Associations-Led Industrial Parks’
The state government is holding consultations with the stakeholders like apex bodies of MSME industrial associations to formulate the policy
Vijayawada: The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have welcomed the AP government’s proposed innovative policy for ‘Associations-Led-Industrial Parks’ and sought enhanced allotment of land of 100 to 500 acres, from the present norm of 10 to 100 acres.
The state government is holding consultations with the stakeholders like apex bodies of MSME industrial associations to formulate the policy. The first meeting was held virtually the other dau.
The MSME industrial associations are asking for execution of the MoUs for the land allotment made earlier, as the entrepreneurs are ready to invest and develop industrial parks which in turn serve as ancillary units for major industries.
Though the mega industrial cluster and multi-product special economic zone called Sri City is established in Tirupati, it gets ancillary supplies from Gujarat, Coimbatore, Chennai and partly from Karnataka and Maharashtra and very less from parts of AP.
There are five major MSME industrial associations in the state that are willing to take part in the development of industrial parks in AP, which are expected to contribute in a big way for its economic growth, employment generation and a host of other benefits.
One of such MSME industrial associations called Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of India said it has received 170 applications from prospective entrepreneurs to make financial arrangements and to develop SME parks at international standards.
The proposed policy, it said, would encourage greater participation of industrial associations in developing the world class industrial parks, accelerate industrialisation, promote balanced regional development, attract huge investments and generate substantial employment opportunities in the state.
President of the federation of small and medium enterprises APK Reddy said, “We welcome the proposed policy giving more thrust to the associations to set up industrial parks and it will serve as a game changer for industrial promotion, economic growth and employment generation in AP.
With regard to land allotment, so far three MoUs have been executed with the government in partnership summits for development of 500 acres at Roughsuramala in Tirupati district with an investment of `2,000 crore, with a direct employment for 8,000 persons.
