MP Sribharat Urges Steel Minister to Reinstate VSP Contract Workers

Highlighting workforce concerns, Sribharat stressed the urgent need for full-time employee recruitment at the steel plant. He said proper staffing would facilitate effective promotions, enhance production capacity and ensure steady availability of raw materials.

Visakhapatnam: Local MP Matukumilli Sribharat met steel and industries minister HD Kumaraswamy in New Delhi on Monday and discussed critical issues concerning the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of RINL.

During the meeting, Sribharat requested the central minister to consider reinstatement of the contract workers. He explained that they have contributed significantly to the plant’s development and possessed strong service records.

The MP emphasized the importance of regularizing these employees to ensure the plant’s smooth functioning.

Sribharat also proposed that the Kendriya Vidyalaya operating within the plant premises be transferred and put under the education ministry. This, he explained, would provide students with quality educational facilities.

He also recommended implementing a Voluntary Retirement Scheme for the staff of Vimal Vidyalayam, functioning within the plant area, so as to provide them financial security.

Highlighting workforce concerns, Sribharat stressed the urgent need for full-time employee recruitment at the steel plant. He said proper staffing would facilitate effective promotions, enhance production capacity and ensure steady availability of raw materials.

These strategic improvements would greatly benefit the plant’s overall performance, he said.

Minister Kumaraswamy promised to look into the proposals and undertake necessary steps.

In a social media post, Kumaraswamy said Lok Sabha member Bharat met him in his office on Monday and discussed development and industrial initiatives for Visakhapatnam including turnaround of RINL steel plant and regional growth.

“I assured him of full support from the ministry to jointly drive progress in his constituency,’’ the minister said
