MP Sana Satish Vows Efforts to Set Up INCOIS Regional Facility at Kakinada
TDP MP Sana Satish Babu pushes for an INCOIS regional facility at Kakinada to boost ocean observations and aid fishermen's safety.
Telugu Desam MP Sana Satish Babu said he would make efforts with the Centre and state government for the establishment of a regional facility of the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.
The MP recently received a communique from Union minister of state for earth sciences Dr Jitendra Singh stating that the proposal for establishing a regional facility of the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) or INCOIS at Kakinada had been examined by the Union ministry of earth sciences in consultation with the concerned institutions.
INCOIS, Hyderabad, had approached the Andhra Pradesh government for allocation of suitable land for the facility, aimed at strengthening ocean observations and providing advisory services for the Andhra Pradesh coast, the communique stated.
Sana Satish Babu said the Kakinada district administration had identified suitable land for the facility and sent a proposal to the department of infrastructure and investment for approval.
He said the regional facility would benefit fishermen by providing information on potential fishing zones in the sea and would also help ensure their safety.
