MP Condemns Police Action Against Paramedical Students in Tirupati
Gurumoorthy said it was “inhuman” for the government to use force against students instead of addressing their legitimate grievances.
Nellore: Tirupati MP Dr Maddila Gurumoorthy condemned the alleged police assault on paramedical students who staged a protest near Alipiri on Saturday, demanding payment of their pending stipends and steps to ensure the smooth continuation of their studies.
Gurumoorthy said it was “inhuman” for the government to use force against students instead of addressing their legitimate grievances.
He expressed anguish over visuals purportedly showing women students being dragged by their hair during the police action.
“The government should have listened to the students and resolved their problems rather than trying to suppress their voices through the police,” he said.
The MP also criticized the alleged use of force against farmers and students raising legitimate demands, describing such treatment as unacceptable in a democratic society.
Gurumoorthy extended the YSRC’s support to the paramedical students’ agitation and demanded that the government immediately release their pending stipends and resolve their other grievances.
