Mortgage Rule Comes In SCB Too
This clause is being introduced for deterrence against unauthorized constructions - D.Madhukar Naik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SCB

HYDERABAD: People applying for building permits in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board’s (SCB) will have to mortgage a 10 per cent of their built-up area. The new norm, which seeks to prevent illegal constructions, came into effect on Monday. A similar norm is already in force in GHMC and other urban local bodies across the state.
“This clause is being introduced for deterrence against unauthorized constructions,” said D. Madhukar Naik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SCB. After the completion of the project, the SCB will issue a no objection certificate (NOC).
According to officials, the new norm does not need approval from the Union defence ministry and it will be introduced in the existing SCB’s Online Building Plan Application System.
“We appreciate Cantonment Board CEO Madhukar Nayak for initiating new building bye-laws similar to those in GHMC. It is a good attempt to curb deviations and unauthorised floors,” said activist Telukunta Satish Gupta.
