PM Launches Rs 13,430 Crore Development Projects

The projects span across key sectors such as industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, and petroleum and natural gas

Kurnool: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the foundation for multiple development projects worth around `13,430 crore in Andhra Pradesh.

Participating in the Super GST Super Savings programme at Nannuru, the PM said the newly initiated projects span key sectors including industry, power transmission, roads, railways, defence manufacturing, petroleum and natural gas.

In the power sector, he laid the stone for a transmission system strengthening project at Kurnool-III pooling station, valued at `2,880 crore. The project involves the construction of a 765kV double-circuit Kurnool-III–Chilakaluripeta transmission line, which would enhance the transformation capacity by 6,000mva and facilitate large-scale renewable energy transmission.

In the industrial sector, Modi laid the stones for the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool and the Kopparthy Industrial Area in Kadapa, which would be developed by NICDIT and APIIC at a total cost of Rs 4,920 crore. These integrated industrial hubs would feature plug-and-play infrastructure and likely attract investments worth Rs 21,000 crore, generating about one lakh jobs and driving industrial growth across the Rayalaseema region.

Focusing on road infrastructure, the PM laid foundation for the six-lane greenfield highway from Sabbavaram to Sheelanagar in Visakhapatnam at a cost of Rs 960 crore. He also inaugurated six major road projects worth Rs 1,140 crore, including the four-laning of the Pileru–Kalur section, widening of the Kadapa/Nellore border to CS Puram stretch, construction of the Gudivada–Nujella ROB on NH-165, a bridge over the Papaghni river, the Kanigiri bypass and improvement of the N Gundlapalli bypass.

In the railway sector, the PM laid the stone for the Kothavalasa–Vizianagaram fourth line and the Pendurthi–Simhachalam North rail flyover, while dedicating the doubling of the Kothavalasa–Boddavaram and Shimiliguda–Gorapur sections to the nation.

In the energy and defence sectors, Modi dedicated the Rs 1,730-crore Srikakulam–Angul Natural Gas Pipeline, Indian Oil’s Rs 200-crore LPG bottling plant in Chittoor and Bharat Electronics Ltd’s Advanced Night Vision Products Factory at Nimmaluru, established at a cost of Rs 360 crore.
