MLC Protests Officials’ Absence From Final ZP General Body Meet

NELLORE: YSRC MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy on Thursday termed the absence of senior district officials from the last general body meeting of the erstwhile Nellore Zilla Parishad a “dark day for democracy” and alleged that it amounted to an insult to ZP chairperson Anam Arunamma.
Chandrasekhar Reddy attended the meeting along with Arunamma and expressed displeasure over the absence of senior officials, including the ZP chief executive officer and deputy CEO. He said the meeting was meant to deliberate on public issues and the absence of key officials had resulted in an unprecedented situation in the House.
He questioned why officials had stayed away from the final ZP general body meeting and alleged that such a situation had never been witnessed in the district's history.
The MLC said the absence of officials was particularly inappropriate as the meeting was presided over by a woman chairperson. He alleged that the officials had shown disrespect to the elected ZP leadership.
Following the meeting, Arunamma, Chandrasekhar Reddy and ZPTC members staged a sit-in on the Zilla Parishad premises, protesting against the absence of officials and demanding due respect for elected representatives.
