Mishap Halts Oil And Gas Drilling At Pasarlapudi Well

Immediately, a technical team of ONGC rushed to the spot, controlled the gas leak and brought the situation under control.

Kakinada:Kothapeta revenue divisional officer (RDO) K. Madhavi announced temporary suspension of the oil and gas drilling activity at ONGC Pasarlapudi well for assessing overall safety.

Significantly, while ONGC officials had been carrying out drilling at the Pasarlapudi field in Mamidikuduru mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, there had been a loud noise, following which gas and mud erupted suddenly, creating a situation that could not be controlled.

Immediately, a technical team of ONGC rushed to the spot, controlled the gas leak and brought the situation under control.

RDO Madhavi told reporters on Thursday that people in the vicinity of the area need not worry over the gas leakage, as it has been controlled. She disclosed that large quantities of oil and gas resources are there in the well.

Permission will be given to resume operations after the necessary inspections are carried out.

Those present on the occasion included ONGC general manager M. Raghu Menon.
