Tirupati:A 16-year-old girl, reportedly married to a 23-year-old man, gave police the slip during a medical examination at the Chittoor Government Hospital and was later traced to Bengaluru and brought back.

According to sources, the 16-year-old girl from Karvetinagaram mandal, who lost her parents early, has been staying at a government protection home in Tirupati district. She frequently visited her elder sister in BNR Peta, where she came in contact with a 23-year-old shopkeeper from Yadamarri mandal. The two reportedly got married a few days ago.

Upon learning about the incident, officials from the protection home lodged a complaint at the BNR Peta Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police took the minor girl to the Chittoor Government Hospital for a medical examination and to complete legal formalities, including documentation by a woman constable. However, before the constable could complete the documentation, the girl went missing from the hospital premises.

A search was immediately launched across the nearby areas, including bus stations, but to no avail initially. Eventually, the girl was traced in Bengaluru and brought back to the Chittoor hospital. The incident has drawn attention to lapses in monitoring procedures and raised concerns about the safety and handling of minor victims in sensitive cases.
