Ministers Thank Pawan for Sanctioning Rural Road Works

Ministers said timely fund release and swift administrative clearances have renewed confidence among villagers

VIJAYAWADA: Several Cabinet ministers thanked Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Thursday, for sanctioning funds to restore and upgrade rural roads across their constituencies. The ministers met him ahead of the Cabinet meeting and said the allocations had brought long-awaited relief to villagers who had been struggling with severely damaged roads for years under the previous government.

They conveyed that the new funding had raised hopes among people in remote areas who depend on road connectivity for daily commuting, access to services and the transport of agricultural produce.

Ministers Payyavula Keshav, Vangalapudi Anitha, P. Narayana, Nadendla Manohar, Savita, D.V.B. Swamy, Nimmala Ramanaidu, Anagani Satyaprasad, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, B.C. Janardhan Reddy and Kandula Durgesh thanked Pawan for ensuring the release of funds in the first phase.

The panchayat raj department has already issued a government order sanctioning funds for the initial phase of rural road development. Under this phase, 1,299 roads across 157 Assembly constituencies will be taken up for strengthening. The government has approved `2,123 crore in SASCI funds for the project, covering 4,007 km of roads in 26 districts.

Officials said the priority is to rebuild rural roads that deteriorated over the past several years, causing hardships to farmers, students and daily commuters.

Pawan who oversees panchayat raj and rural development, recently performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the “Palle Panduga 2.0” initiative, aimed at improving last-mile connectivity and reviving rural infrastructure.
