Ministers Ask Collectors To Take Preventive Steps In Flood-Prone Areas

Vijayawada:Home and Disaster Management minister Vangalapudi Anitha presided over a review meeting of the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) and AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) in view of the heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh on Friday.
She asked district collectors to take preventive steps in flood-prone areas, install warning signboards at hotspots and coordinate with the Irrigation, R&B and Panchayati Raj departments for speedy restoration of infrastructure.
Anitha asked citizens not to believe in rumours over social media but follow official alerts from the APSDMA. She advised them to contact toll-free numbers 112, 1070, and 1800 425 0101 in case of any emergency.
The minister instructed officials to implement the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in dealing with the heavy rains, depressions, cyclones and flash floods. She advised the public to remain alert.
Anitha advised fishermen not to venture into the sea until Monday.
