Minister Swamy Dola Seeks Correction of YSRC’s ‘Haphazard’ District Reorganisation

The minister called for several villages of Kondapi constituency that are presently in Nellore district to be brought back under Prakasam district limits.

Nellore: Minister Dr Dola Sri Bala Veeranjaneyaswamy has urged the Cabinet sub-committee on district reorganisation to rectify what he described as the “haphazard” process carried out by the previous YSRC government.

The minister called for several villages of Kondapi constituency that are presently in Nellore district to be brought back under Prakasam district limits.

Meeting the Cabinet sub-committee members, Anagani Satya Prasad, Vangalapudi Anitha, BC Janardhan Reddy and Satya Kumar Yadav at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Wednesday, Dr Swamy submitted a formal representation seeking changes to district names and boundaries.

He cited the case of Ramanadhapuram (NVV Kandrika) village in Jarugumalli mandal, where one street falls under Prakasam district and another under Palukuru panchayat in Nellore district.

He requested that the entire area be merged with Nandanavanam in Jarugumalli mandal of Prakasam district. He also proposed that Yadlapadu village in Jarugumalli mandal, which is located far from its mandal headquarters, be attached to Ponnaluru mandal.

Dr Swamy also explained to the committee the necessity of creating a separate Markapur district.

He pointed out that from the present Prakasam district headquarters at Ongole, areas like Markapur, Giddalur, Kanigiri and Yerragondapalem are situated far away, causing inconvenience to residents who need to travel there for official work.

“Establishing a district with Markapur as its headquarters would greatly benefit the people of western Prakasam,” Dr Swamy told the sub-committee.
