Minister Savitha's Followers Raid Kia Ancillary Demanding Contracts
The incident has raised alarm over growing political interference in industrial zones.

Anantapur: Local leaders including minister Savitha’s followers raided an ancillary unit of Kia Motors at Ammavaripalli in Penukonda mandal of Satya Sai district demanding contract works on Tuesday. The issue came to light on Wednesday.
Sources said local leaders from Penukonda cutting across party lines have been mounting pressure on various ancillary units for contract works ever since Korea-based Kia has established its car manufacturing facility near Penukonda.
A group of TD men reportedly entered the premises of an ancillary unit pushing aside security personnel and created a ruckus, demanding awarding of all contract work to their network. In the process, they allegedly ransacked some areas to intimidate the staff.
However, the KIA police station personnel led by a sub-inspector rushed to the spot. Police spoke to the TD activists and company officials, with the latter inviting 10 people for discussions over the issue.
