Minister Satya Kumar Inaugurates 11 DCA Buildings Virtually
With regard to prevalence of Scrub Typhus, the minister called for proper awareness among the people on preventive measures and also to take medical treatment.

Vijayawada: Minister for health Satya Kumar Yadav has inaugurated 11 newly constructed Drugs Control Administration (DCA) buildings, virtually at an estimated cost of Rs 11.12 crore at Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that they were developed at Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Amalapuram, Narasaraopeta, Ongole, Kavali, Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Madanapalle and Kurnool and added that regional labs were also constructed in Visakhapatnam and Kurnool. He said that the DCA buildings were constructed in 43,000 square feet and as they were coming into use, it would help save `15 lakh to the government per annum for paying rent.
The health minister said that the new buildings were built with the funds provided by both the central government and the state government and added that they would arrange state-of-the-art equipment in the newly set up labs at a cost of Rs 6 crore so that they would help check the quality of medicines.
Maintaining that the drugs lab in the city was testing 4,000 samples per annum, the minister said that with the addition of newly set up labs, it would help to test 3,000 samples and sounded confident that if the state level lab coming up in the city would become operational in the next three months and it would test 7,000 samples by enhancing the capacity to test a total of 13,000 samples per annum in the state.
He assured efforts to fill up vacant posts of analysts and others in the DCA department through the Medical Service Recruitment Board soon and ruled out any chance for lapses and graft in the discharge of duties by the officers in the department and warned stern action against them.
In a separate development, health minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced that the government medical college at Paderu got sanction of 100 MBBS seats for the academic year 2026-27 as permitted by the National Medical Commission in advance and turned critical against the concerned officials for losing 50 seats in the current academic year due to lack of coordination. He directed the medical education authorities to make proper planning for giving admission for MBBS in the government medical colleges coming up under PPP mode in Adoni, Markapuram, Madanapalli and Pulivendula.
