Minister Flags off 20 E-Buses Connecting Vizag to ASR Airport
The minister underlined that the coalition government is committed to modernising public transport with eco-friendly mobility solutions
Visakhapatnam: AP transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy on Friday flagged off 20 PM e-buses connecting Visakhapatnam to the upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju (Bhogapuram) International Airport.
Launching the buses at the Visakha Steel City depot, the minister underlined that the coalition government is committed to modernising public transport with eco-friendly mobility solutions. The electric buses will provide safe, comfortable, and pollution-free travel to the upcoming airport, while strengthening the state's public transport network.
Ramprasad Reddy said passengers and APSRTC employees are the "two eyes" of the corporation. The government is giving equal importance to service quality and employee welfare.
The minister charged the previous government with not procuring a single new bus during its tenure and claimed that, in fact, the coalition government has revived APSRTC. He disclosed that the government has cleared night-out allowances for the corporation employees and remains committed to their welfare.
Ramprasad Reddy asked APSRTC employees not to believe the misinformation being spread by political opponents. He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to protecting the interests of RTC workers.
Emphasising on road safety, the minister called for a “zero accidents” goal. He wanted drivers to discharge their duties responsibly, with the highest priority given to passenger safety.
On the occasion, the minister felicitated 17 APSRTC drivers from the Visakha Steel City Depot with appreciation certificates for their accident-free record. He commended their discipline, vigilance, and commitment to passenger safety. He expressed hope that they would continue to set an example in promoting road safety across the state.
