Minister Directs Health Staff To Be On High Alert To Deal With Communicable Diseases

The minister also told the officials to get details of women in an advanced stage of pregnancy so that they could be provided with health and medical care.

Vijayawada: Health minister Satya Kumar Yadav has directed the health authorities on Monday to be on a high alert to deal with the outbreak of communicable diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid and other fevers in the wake of heavy rains and the resultant floods in several parts in AP.

The minister instructed the officials that they should keep a tab on the number of diseases being reported from vulnerable areas in the wake of rains expected to continue further and take up review on them mandal-wise to initiate necessary measures to protect the health of the people and also to contain further spread of such diseases.

The minister wanted the authorities to collect samples of water and send them for analysis and ensure supply clean potable water to the people. He called upon the health authorities to coordinate with other stakeholder departments, including municipal administration, panchayat raj, rural water supply and others, and called for doctors and paramedical staff and other health personnel to be on high alert and attend to duty.

The minister also told the officials to get details of women in an advanced stage of pregnancy so that they could be provided with health and medical care. He instructed officials to take the help of ANMs and ASHA workers and underscored the need to keep the ambulances ready for service.
